Frequent Traveler University is heading to the city that never sleeps… Las Vegas! Join us at The D Las Vegas from April 29th-May 1st, 2016 for the first ever FTU Signature Event. We will have amazing educational sessions including beginner and advanced sessions, great networking, and plenty of fun! Learn how to earn elite status quickly, book cheaper tickets, find the best redemptions, and navigate the world of miles and points. New this year will be a special full day add-on of Manufactured Spending where you will learn the tricks to generating miles, points and how to achieve credit card spend on the cheap from leading experts in the field.

Rewards programs don’t have to be complicated. Get the inside knowledge you need to make these schemes work for you. At this FTU Signature Event there will be sessions aimed at both beginners as well as more intense advanced FTU sessions. Whether this is your first FTU, or even if you have attended multiple events before there will be topics presented for all knowledge levels.

What’s Included?

For only $199, your FTU Signature Only ticket gives you access to two days of expert-led sessions, a welcome cocktail reception “Vegas style” that includes outdoor space on the Traverse City Patio overlooking the Downtown Las Vegas Skyline on Friday night, and lunch on both Saturday and Sunday. An FTU Signature All-Access Pass for $249 also gets you access to the Manufactured Spend sessions on Saturday.

The new Manufactured Spending add-on for Saturday will allow for an intimate setting. Best in the industry speakers such as Greg Davis-Kean, Omar Zaman and Tahsir Ahsan will discuss manufactured spending in depth and how it relates to airline award bookings, hotel programs, and more. This will be followed by a small setting question and answer session. This add-on has a limited number of spots to insure those that attend can connect with the speakers on a personal basis. This exciting new program is sure to sell out fast, so be certain to sign up early.

Of course, since it’s VEGAS, we have a few surprises. An exciting FTU card tournament for charity with prizes for the winners that include airline tickets, hotel points and status following the cocktail reception on Friday evening. A great opportunity to challenge some of your favorite bloggers at the gaming tables. [Please note : The blackjack tournament will require an additional fee.]

[Optional] Blackjack Tournament. On Friday night after the cocktail reception, continue the fun by participating in the first ever FTU charity Blackjack Tournament: Industry VIPs versus frequent travelers. This tournament is all about fun, and open TO ALL FREQUENT TRAVELERS. Never played cards before in a casino environment? No worries. This tournament is a great opportunity to play blackjack in a friendly atmosphere. The dealers will be professional casino “go-go” dancer dealer/entertainers. It’s also a great opportunity to compete against some of your favorite industry VIPs.

All proceeds will go towards the Pacific Coast Air Museum in honor of Don Mackenzie.

My father was a board member of the Pacific Coast Air Museum, which is based at the Charles M. Shulz – Sonoma County Airport (STS). He coordinated the Wings Over Wine Country air show last September and was recently appointed chair of the board’s accounting committee.

The museum is small, but the area has a lot of history. The airfield used to be a military base back in WWII. When my dad rented a hangar for his plane, he had to sign a waiver because no one knows how much unexploded ordinance is buried there. Alaska flies into STS, and older avgeeks may know of the famous “Butler Hangar” from the movie “It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.” One plan for the museum is to move its fleet to this hangar if they can raise the funds.

Registration (in advance) for this blackjack tournament will be $50 and will include $25 in match play coupons that can be used at The D casino, making this not only an amazing opportunity for charity but also a fabulous “deal.” Pending space available, there will be limited tickets available for purchase the day of the tournament for $60; be sure to reserve in advance (below) to secure a spot (for $50).
